Exclusive limited release Funko figures are available at trade shows like comic conventions, on web-shops such as Gemini Collectibles, and selected comic book shops.
How To Identify An Exclusive Funko Products[]
To identify an exclusive item, look for a sticker featured on the outer plastic "window" of the original box. This sticker is considered a "sticker of authenticity".
The sticker may indicate any of the following:
- The limited number of figures made. Exclusives are commonly made in a limited release of 480 or 1000 units, however, this number varies.
- Where the item was exclusive to. The most common exclusive location is the annual San Diego Comic-Con.
- The type of exclusivity. It is common for glow-in-the-dark (GITD) Pop! figures to feature separate stickers.
Types of Exclusive Figures[]
Exclusives are generally variants of existing figures that offer an alternative look.[1]
Exclusive variants include:
- Black and white (B&W) - the color scheme is grayscale instead of colorful. This is usually all of the figures, however, some have parts of color.
- Black Light - colored to be brightest and most eye-catching when placed under a black light.
- Chrome - typically one color of chrome paint adding a ghostly or trophy-like quality
- Colorways - the use of a particular color scheme that differs from the items' usual color.
- Diamond/Glitter - made with a special glitter coating.
- Die-Cast - made of metal and comes in a clear acrylic display with etched box art and a base to support the top-heavy figures. In the separate die-cast line from its plastic vinyl counterpart.
- D.I.Y. - "do-it-yourself" standard size vinyl figures coated in white primer and ready for you to paint and color.
- Flocked - a soft fuzzy "skin" on part of or all of the item.
- Glow-in-the-dark (GITD) - when exposed to a UV-light source, the item will glow in the dark for a short time. This may apply to part of or all of the item.
- Metallic - a shiny sheen coats part or all of the item.
- Outfits - different shirts, hats, or other items.
- Patina - a bronze, oxidized coating covers all of the figure's surface.
- Proto - an extremely rare prototype with very little paint detail on it. The final shape and features (like the eyes or hair) are visible, but may not have paint detail on them.
Exclusive Pop! Sizes[]
Although the common size of 3.5" to 5" is used for most exclusive Pop! figures, some are made in sizes of 6" (Super), 10" (Jumbo), and 18" (Mega). The larger Pop! figures may come in any type of its 3.75" counterpart.
